Role Summary

The Junior Web Developer will be located in our Calgary office and provide services to Olympia Benefits division. The role will consist of web development and administration of our customer facing and internal web sites and services with a focus on high standards of customer service and efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and support innovative Web-based solutions for internal and external clients that adhere to current W3C and WCAG standards-compliant code
  • Maintain existing web sites and web services and administer the HTTP services
  • Perform complete testing of Web applications, engaging users as necessary
  • Keep the appearance of websites fresh, appealing, and easy to navigate
  • Work closely with divisional teams to develop detailed specifications for new projects and updates to current websites and Apps
  • Will be required to work within a team environment to complete common goals and/or projects
  • Research and produce the correct answers and support for inquiries as they arise
  • Consistently works closely with divisional teams to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Displays a high level of support for the team, cooperatively working together when required

Required Qualifications

  • BSc in Computer Science or an equivalent technical diploma
  • A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in web application development
  • Proficient with social media across major channels

Specialized Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience with PHP, JavaScript (incl. jQuery), AJAX, OOP required
  • Previous experience with HTML(5), CSS(3), JSON and RESTful APIs required
  • Experience with MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle knowledge an asset
  • Experience dealing with multi-OS/Browser compatibility (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Firefox, Internet Explorer)
  • Social and other API Experience (FaceBook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Experience with mobile design and development including responsive design
  • Comfortable on Unix or Windows using Apache and IIS
  • Exposure to HubSpot an asset
  • Previous experience with React Native and Git are considered an asset
